New press release: Voices for Change – Citizens in Veles Take the Lead on Environmental Solutions

Sep 23, 2025 | 0 comments

The FIC-Fighters project kicks off its first Citizen Dialogue in Veles under the theme “Voices for Change – Exploring Solutions for the Veles Stack.” This landmark event brings residents and grassroots groups into the heart of discussions on how to transform the city’s legacy phosphogypsum (PG) waste site, one of North Macedonia’s top 16 environmental hot spots, into an opportunity for innovation and sustainable development.

Participants will co-create solutions, identify risks, and envision a greener future, contributing directly to a more inclusive model of environmental governance. The event marks the beginning of a Europe-wide effort to involve communities in addressing industrial waste through circular economy strategies.

Why now? The need for action is urgent—but so is the potential for change.
